[pronounced, sa-wa-dee-peuh-on-peuh-on and means "hello friends!"]
Wow – what a busy week this has become! There is so much to say...but I will start with...HAPPY CANADA DAY!!! Samantha & I celebrated it this morning by having breakfast at Natti's house - she made us pancakes and we had Canadian syrup on it :D
SUNDAY SHARING
Sharing about DRIME at Bangna Christian Fellowship |
This past Sunday June 26th Samantha & I went to two different churches again to share about the DRIME Ministry. In the morning we went to Bangna Christian Fellowship, which is an English church! Most of the congregation are foreigners – missionaries, English teachers, etc – so we fit right in! The worship, the preaching, the whole service is in English with translation into Thai for those who need it. Even though we have only been here just under a month, it already felt strange to be in a building full of farang [foreigners]!
In the afternoon we went to share about DRIME at Shalom Church. Again, we were not the only North Americans there as there was a group of Korean Americans visiting the church! [They are here on a mission trip with Korean Campus Crusade for Christ.] So, we definitely got our dose of fellow farang for the day!
The sharing went well at both churches and we were encouraged by the interest people showed! We have talked with a few people who have told us how thankful they are for a drama ministry starting in Bangkok! They say that the country needs it!
MEETINGS GALORE!!
DRIME Meeting at the TCCC Office! |
This week we have been meeting with people who have showed an interest in the ministry. From these meetings we currently have two people who are interested in leadership; they have both started to pray about it and fill out the application! Praise the Lord! We have another meeting Sunday afternoon with someone who wants to find out more about leadership. We’ve also had a lot of people voice interest in joining the DRIME team, which is awesome as well!
UPCOMING EVENTS
The promo poster for Mingle Mania! |
Tonight [July 1st] Samantha & I will be the guest speakers at an event called Mingle Mania. Once a month, a group of young professionals meet for food, fellowship, worship & prayer. Samantha & I have been asked to share about the DRIME Ministry as well as share our testimonies with the group.
On Sunday July 3rd we will be performing a DRIME drama [with the help of two other people] at Rangsit Church. Once a month the church focuses on evangelism; they encourage the members to bring their friends & neighbours to church with them. So, they have asked us to do a drama for this occasion. I have also been asked to share my testimony after the drama!
During the evenings of July 6th & 7th we are hosting DRIME information meetings at the TCCC Office. We are inviting everyone who has voiced interest in the DRIME Ministry to come and hear more about it!
PRAYER REQUESTS & PRAISE REPORT!
Mingle Mania, Rangsit Church & Information Meetings
Please be praying for all the details to come together for these events. Pray that Samantha & I would be given the words to say as we share our testimonies & share about the ministry. [I’m nervous to share my testimony…please pray for peace!]
Leaders
Please be praying for the two people who are currently praying about leadership and filling out the application. Pray that God would bring all the right leaders to us. We are hoping to have the leadership team chosen by the end of July – please pray for that! Continue to pray for wisdom & discernment for us.
Election Day
The Flag of Thailand |
On July 3rd Thailand is having an election for a new Prime Minister. Please pray for things to remain peaceful when the new Prime Minister is announced.
Praise the Lord!
Samantha is feeling better, I am doing much better in terms of transitioning to being in Bangkok and our partnership with TCCC is feeling more and more natural!
Pad Thai, mai si tua [no nuts] - one of my fav foods! |
I appreciate your prayers & support!
Love you all,
เจนน่า = "Janna" in Thai!!! Cool, eh?
[The thing I find amusing is that it literally translates to “ajnna” because certain vowels are written before the consonants in Thai.]
